Russell Casey
Russell Casey holds a Masters degree in Medical Physics and currently works in Radiology Informatics. Russell's interest in the Middle East, Persia, Central Asia and the Silk Route arose from studying Latin in high school. His interest in Roman history and culture ultimately led to a desire to understand cross cultural influences in the region from Rome to China.
After independently visiting Turkey, Syria and Jordan, Russell travelled to Iran on the ASA Art and Culture of Persia tour in 2002. In 2005 after completing the ASA Silk Route tour, he continued on to Iran to further his understanding of Iran's people, its art, architecture, gardens and cuisine. Combining his great interest in Central Asia with his excellent management skills, Russell joined ASA as manager for the Silk Route tour in 2009. Russell has a keen interest in languages, studying French, German, Japanese, Arabic, Persian and Chinese (Mandarin). He holds a Queensland Ambulance Service first aid certificate.
