Assoc. Prof. David Marshall

Associate Professor David R. Marshall is Principal Fellow in Art History, School of Culture and Communication, the University of Melbourne and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities. His research has focused on Renaissance and Baroque art and architecture, especially topographical painting (Canaletto, Bellotto, Panini) and villa architecture in central and northern Italy. He is a keen amateur architect and gardener. With Lisa Beaven he curated and edited the catalogue of the exhibition on Baroque art Emerging from Darkness at Hamilton Gallery in 2023-24. David has led the ASA tours and university credit courses to Italy since 1998.
