He is an accomplished linguist – as well as Croatian, he speaks English, French, Hungarian, Italian, Greek and Turkish. He translated History of the Czech Republic from Czech into Croatian, has translated numerous articles from German into Croatian, and a long-term project is a Croatian-Modern Greek dictionary, soon to be published.
