Terry Richardson
Terry’s passion for Turkey began whilst he was studying Ancient History in the late 1970s, and he has been exploring this archaeology and history rich country ever since. He lived in Turkey for a decade and a half, speaks Turkish and spends much of his time researching this fascinating country. Terry was the main author of the Rough Guide to Turkey, wrote The Rough Guide to Istanbul and has contributed to many other guides, including Eyewitness and Insight. He also writes regular Turkey-related travel articles for The Telegraph newspaper. Terry first visited Eastern Turkey in the early 1980s, and its dramatic topography, remote sites and complex political, social and cultural heritage have held him in thrall ever since. He has been leading specialist tours to this incredible region for approaching 20 years. Terry joins ASA in 2026 as tour lecturer for our Eastern Turkey explorations.
